I think the pictures would really help here but system won’t let a new poster put them up. As far as the dealer they are really nice but they aren’t the ones deciding to put a spare in the trunk. I see that the new 7 series now has no spare tire, so this is the direction BMW is heading. Another option would be to put a spare tire loose in the trunk or you could buy a car with a spare tire. If you don't then it’s your fault if you are left stranded. Maybe I should have warned if you have run flats every time you hit a pot hole you need to put your car on a lift and check the entire tire to see if it could lead to a failure. I don't care about the tire manufacturer, if the tire fails than there should be a spare. We’ll see I’ll post an update when it’s over with. That’s if my car doesn’t need to go to the body shop. I got a flat and instead of taking 10 minutes on the side of the highway to put on a spare I will be without my car (borrowed a company car) probably for a few days. I think it’s very stupid on BMW’s part and will not buy another car from them with the same setup. I’m curious what will be done about the side of the car that has melted tire rubber all over it and the wheel well is beat up. I didn’t get the tires through the dealer b/c BMW’s road hazard is $800+ and online it was 124 for all four tires. I went ahead and ordered 4 new tires online at TR and they are being shipped to the dealer. I spoke with the dealership today and they have handled it very professionally it’s the absurdity of BMW to be so confident in a run flat tire not to put a spare. I live in Louisiana and not occasionally hitting a pothole is impossible. The tread left on them was fine, the problem is that these tires get eggs on them if you hit a pot hole. If I could post pics I would and it is easy to see the problem. Sorry I have the original Bridgestone run flats that came on the car. food for thought when considering free windshield wipers and oil changes. but this will be my last bmw as long as they have run flat tires. going to try michelin pilot this time and see if they are any better. bmw roadside service took 3.5 to pick up the car and then towed it to the dealership where i'll be putting 4 new tires on. had to have car towed and i took a razor scooter out of my trunk and rode to an exit to wait for a friend to drive 30 miles to pick me up. that would be $133 a month in tires at 15k miles a year. dealer told me they should be changed every 15k miles. this is my second bmw lease first was 2004 330ci and now have 2007 335i and was waiting until a little past the half way point so i would only have to spring for $1600 in tires one time during the lease. this happened yesterday on I-10, got a flat slowed to 50mph and made it 10 miles then started throwing rubber everywhere. Won't let me put picture b/c i'm a new member i'll try again after first postĭon't know if that picture upload will work, if not i'll try again.
